THIS PERSONAL PROJECT OF INTEREST WAS THE INDUSTRY RESEARCH PROJECT WITHIN MY DIGITAL MANAGEMENT COURSE FROM HYPER ISLAND. THEREFORE I WORKED OUT HOW A SPECIFIC DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AS VR CAN AND BE USED IN THE AREA OF TRAINING. A SHORT INTRO ABOUT THE CONCEPT IS DOWN BELOW.
This Industry Research Project (IRP) examines the usage of Virtual Reality (VR) in the area of learning and development (L&D) in the specific area of on job training. The technology base and boundary for Virtual Reality Hardware within this IRP is the usage of a Head Mounted Display (HMD). The utilization of emerging technologies to support the labour force is a key trend. The author mentioned the scope of training/retraining people and using digital technologies to offer a flexible and scalable process.
This IRP investigates the characteristics and challenges faced by the usage of VR technologies, what approaches could lead to digitalized training, and the benefits of it. It is divided into two areas; the first one is information gathering and clarification of VR, Data, and surrounding areas within digital management. The second part is the development of the benefits (and drawbacks).
The IRP concludes findings that assist an organization/stakeholder if the usage of VR is relevant in their current subject matter of L&D scope. Recommendations are made and a model of how to concept a training solution for it.
As the IRP is not founded on an organization's problem, expert's interviews and surveys have been used to test and validate the research.
